As someone I used to know from Las Vegas used to remind me, the Strip is only one aspect of the city and many people work in other industries.
Personally, Las Vegas does not appeal to me except as a centre to go visit other tourist attractions. The Strip strikes me as sleazy and tacky, and a fast way to lose a lot of money. The only thing which would appeal are the shows, but many of them seem to be aimed low.
