Bob was a software engineer and a good one. I worked for him for a few years and really miss him.

Numero group released a curated single record of the sort of thing he collected that I strongly recommend https://numerogroup.com/products/eccentric-soul-sitting-in-t...

Jeff Kollath - Stax Museum curator - guested on WYXR's Box of Records this week playing two hours of 45s from the collection: https://www.wyxr.org/box-of-records - May 13th episode.

He will be back in June for another two hours.

Very cool. The Stax Museum is absolutely worth a visit if you find yourself in Memphis.

It really is! We were there one afternoon when a high school choral group was practicing (the museum does a lot of outreach through the Stax Music Academy) and visitors were encouraged to sing along. It was truly magical.

If you’re lucky, you can also catch the Rev. Al Green leading his Full Gospel Tabernacle Church service.

~35,000 records is an astoundingly large collection, especially for a focused collection. A huge number of these must be one-of-a-kind that would have been forever lost without the work of this collector.
