I tend to think the people who want this service didn't do the maths. If they don't bite, you've wasted your dough. If they do, then the impact on you and them of terminating for yourself was probably emotionally low. If you seek to retain friendship when they find out how emotionally manipulated they were it's unlikely to work. So in the end, what's the cost/benefit and risk/consequence matrix looking like?
For divorce I would say the risk/consequences are even worse. You'll get the divorce. And massive costs and alimony. The murder story here is really just icing on the cake.
