  I’m confident that those mode of communicating is only effective and praiseworthy amongst the naive, middle-aged aunts and Middle Age courtiers.

  At the end of the conversation, If you have not made any money out of it or if no-one learned anything from the conversation, quite frankly both of you are wasting your own time.

  Ill rise to the bait. Asshole is asshole. Most conversations dont need to involve one or be competitive. If you feel you need to win in casual conversation then you likely have one foot in the sociopath sandbox.
